Since as long as we can remember, viewers have been drawn to quiz shows. When we talk about these shows, Bob Barker immediately springs to mind. He is a household name and an entertainment giant who initially gained notoriety in 1972 when he made his stage debut on The Price is Right.
During his 35 years as the show’s host, Barker received 14 Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show Host and four Emmys for his executive producing work.
Regarding his professional accomplishments, Barker acknowledged that his late wife was largely responsible. “She offered me the courage to attempt what I had set out to do. In 2008, he noted, “She worked right at my side, not just encouraging me.
Regretfully, following 36 years of marriage, his wife Gideon passed away from cancer in 1981. “I never felt like getting married again. She was my spouse. Barker informed ABC News.
Eventually, though, he did find new love—with Nancy Burnet, his 40-year partner.
Burnet never talks negatively about Barker. She revealed something that shocked everyone just before he celebrated his 99th birthday in December and it had to do with the host’s health.
Specifically, Burnet disclosed that Barker only takes one prescription, for his thyroid, despite his senior age.
“He will be 99 years old, and the only prescription drug he takes is for his thyroid. And when someone visits him or his health care team says, “Well, we’d like a list of his medications,” Let me just show you the bottle, I’ll say. That is all. Burnet joked about his one prescription, saying, “So, he does not take anything for blood pressure, cholesterol, or the umpteen other things that most people take as they grow older.” “Considering his age, he is in excellent health, and his sense of humor is still strong. He’s led an extremely fortunate life.
This is not to say that Barker hasn’t experienced medical crises and health fears in the past. In contrast, he underwent surgery over 20 years ago to treat a partially blocked artery and lower his risk of stroke; in fact, he experienced a stroke in 2002. He underwent a prostate operation not long after. In addition, he’s had back problems and multiple small incidences of skin cancer.
Burnet makes sure her partner receives all the nutrients he requires because she is a vegetarian. “It was meant to improve things, not take the place of meals. given that he wasn’t feeling well, to take that in addition to his meals. In addition to not appearing well, he appeared worn out and rather fragile. Additionally, you had better know what you’re doing if you’re going to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet.
In addition to being regarded as one of the most well-known and pioneering quiz show hosts, Barker is a supporter of animal welfare. Bob Barker is here to remind you of the need to keep the number of pets under control. Having your dogs neutered or spayed is one of his most well-known sayings.
He actually turned vegetarian because he wanted to stay up to date with his late wife, who he claims was prepared. She gave up wearing fur coats before everyone else did. She adopted a vegetarian diet before many other people did. And I progressively treated her in the same manner.
In 2015, Barker said to the Associated Press, “If young people are introduced to the terrible exploitation and mistreatment of animals in society, it will help influence them in anything they do.” “You need legislation when your encouragement and education don’t work.”
We adore this man even more because of his commitment to improving the environment for animals on Earth and his love of them. He makes good use of his popularity to alter the world.
