Trevor Hayes is a service plumber who travels the world seeing clients. Hayes saw a fluffy brown clump pressed up against a garage door two houses down on a recent workday as he was on his way to a customer’s residence.
Taking in more information, Hayes quickly met the concerned gaze of an animal.
Hayes told The Dodo, “It looked like it wasn’t doing well; it was just staring at me.”

The plumber quickly came to the conclusion that something was wrong.
Hayes remarked, “I realized it was an owl immediately.” “The local wildlife is fairly well-known to me, but seeing the owl in the middle of the day—especially in front of someone’s ground-level garage—was strange.”
In the hopes that the bird was simply disoriented or bewildered, Hayes carried on with his work. After that, he returned to see how the bird was doing and was devastated to see that the stray animal was still there.

Hayes stated, “I knocked on the homeowner’s door because I felt like I should probably do something, but I didn’t get an answer.”
Hayes needed help and called a game warden in the area. He then called a neighboring bird rehabilitation institution, RAPTOR Inc., for assistance. Hayes received guidance on safe bird capture techniques from RAPTOR Inc. staff. Hayes returned later that day carrying a box, a drop cloth, and heavy gloves. Before long, Hayes had the sick bird safely in his care and was heading to RAPTOR Inc. for additional evaluation.

Today, the owl is doing well in his care, getting all the support he requires to recover.
According to Hayes, “They said the owl is doing great.”

Hayes reports that the bird was recently relocated to a larger enclosure at the rescue facility and will likely be returned to its natural habitat in the near future.
This owl will return to the night skies soon, where he belongs and can soar without any worries.
