People saw the real faces of the people they loved.

A lot of the time, we look to our loved ones for support, but sometimes it’s them who stab us in the back. Even small lies or being dishonest can hurt deeply. Many people are able to set healthy boundaries and leave unhealthy relationships, which is good news.

– My husband and I have a mortgage, and I recently got a “extra” apartment that a family member left for me to take care of. We’re going to sell it and use the money to pay off our debt.
But three relatives have come forward and said that the “freebie” should be given to them since we already have a place to live. In light of how “free” this chance is, I suggested that they take care of the old lady who is paralyzed for six months. I know where to get the papers I need and how to make a rental agreement official. They won’t give up, though; they want to take the apartment right away.

“Our family had a lot of money, but my mom always made my sister and I feel like we were a burden by telling her how much we cost her.” We never asked for money, toys, or clothes. My mom gave me a bill on my 18th birthday that included everything from holiday gifts to costs for my pregnancy. A bill like that was sent to my sister.
We basically spent all of our paychecks to settle this supposed debt. My friends helped me see how silly this situation was when I turned 21. My sister and I chose to live far away from our mother and stop talking to her. Looking for Relevance on Reddit

“My daughter turned one year old not long ago.” I’m very proud of the fact that she has absolutely beautiful hair. About three months ago, my husband’s mother told me that in their family, babies’ hair is shaved off when they turn one. When I said I didn’t agree with this tradition, it seemed like the subject was forgotten.
Then my wife’s mom asked if she and her granddaughter could go for a walk, and I said yes. After an hour and a half, though, when my baby was brought back to me, she was 100% bald. It made me cry all day. Vintage_Bee_9963 on Reddit

“My parents split up when I was 12 years old.” Because I still have two younger brothers, my dad kept giving my mom child support. My grandfather on my dad’s side planned to give us, his grandchildren, a share of his savings.
He died, but he didn’t leave a will, which is sad. My dad said he had never heard of those plans after he died. Because of this, we didn’t get any inheritance. Not long after that, my dad bought a fancy car and took a trip to a resort. On Reddit, oneybigproblems

“When my dad found out I got an insurance payment, he asked for a big loan.” He told her, “I raised you and put so much into you.” It’s now your turn. I’m happy to help, and I did give him the money. My dad doesn’t know when he’ll be able to pay back the debt, though. It makes me feel bad to bring it up, but I need to think about my own money needs too. gaimai / Reddit

– Do you know how to troll? My grandmother is a jerk. I always whined when I was 4 that my grandmother had blue eyes and I had brown ones. “Your eyes are dirty, wash them!” she told him. I washed my eyes with soap for three years straight!

“He went to the party without me.” He was playing with a girl’s hair while she had her head on his lap. They sent me a picture later. Of course, I had to know what was going on. “Don’t worry,” he said, “she just had a headache.” In any case, she left after 15 minutes.
He said it was a friendly conversation. What else does he mean when he says “friendly interaction”? I still don’t know what to think a month later. SunshineSoy on Reddit

– “My mom and stepdad live from pay check to pay check and also have loans.” I agreed to help them get by, but I feel like my money is being taken away. I told my mom, “Haven’t I already given enough?” when she asked for money again. I’m not an ATM. She was angry and told me that my life was easy. Reddit user Bullfrog-Intelligent

– My mom took my pool. Frame pool in a box that was kept in the barn for the winter. It was gone for some reason in the summer. I was surprised to find it at my mom’s country house. Without a doubt, it’s mine, with worn-out smiles added by my daughter and a burnt edge from a barbecue accident.
“Is this mine?” I ask my mom. Trying to make it look like I had given it to her to keep safe. She says, “No, I bought this,” though. I ask her why she made the choice she did. At your country home, you don’t even have a pump. How are you going to fill it up? With a hose or buckets? Are you going to put it on tomatoes?
It doesn’t bother her. I couldn’t talk to her about it, and I didn’t tell my husband either. I don’t know what to do next because of what she did.
