It takes a lot of patience, understanding, and giving in to blend lives. This story is about a guy who has had enough of seeing perfectly good meals go to waste every day. He can’t take it any longer.
A letter from John arrived:
The 35-year-old John told his story, which may hit home with many. He said “Hi!” at the start of his letter. I saw that a lot of people were writing to you for help and clarity, so I chose to be brave and tell you my story. He then said, “I’ve been seeing a woman for more than three years.” I love her two kids. What bothers me, though, is that we deal with money in very different ways.
He went on, “She has always had money problems, which I can understand because I know how hard it is to be a single mom of two.” I wanted to help, so I paid for her groceries. From the beginning of our relationship, I saw that she lets her kids choose what they want. Because of this, I’ve seen food go bad a lot in her pantry.
Mike goes on with his story by saying, “Recently, we went to the grocery store and the kids chose a lot of cookies.” When we got back to her house, I saw bug-filled cookies in her pantry. I gave up. And then the kids went outside to play. I told her what was going on, but she told me I was overreacting.
He told us about his plans, “This used to bother me, but now it’s awful because I want to ask her and her kids to move in with me.” This kind of behavior has no place in our home. I was poor as a child, so buying food I don’t need and then throwing it away is a huge red flag for me. What should I do?”
