As soon as Emma and Jack got the good news that they were pregnant, they were overjoyed. They were finally starting a family after months of trying. But fate had something else planned for them.
The letter from Emma is here:
“Hi!” After reading a lot of letters from other people, I was brave enough to send mine too. I had a beautiful boy with my husband. It was hard work and a long labor, but holding my new son in my arms made it all worth it. I knew we picked the right name for him the moment I looked into his eyes for the first time. Benjamin was the right size for him.
But not everyone liked the name. “This was a surprise for everyone because we chose his name after he was born.” Alice, my sister, went crazy when she heard that we were going to name the baby Benjamin. We had to change the name because she said it was on her list of names for babies since she was a child.
“I knew about this list, but I thought it was just for kids.” Besides that, she is single and doesn’t plan to get pregnant any time soon, she said.
Emma then said, “Alice wouldn’t let it go.” Over the next few weeks, she became more and more clear about how she felt. She always came up with different names, some of which were funny and some of which were just plain weird.
The situation didn’t get better, though. Emma replied, “I tried to wait.” At a family dinner a month after Benjamin was born, things got worse. My parents and Alice were coming over to celebrate the baby’s birthday with my husband and me. Evening began with laughter and stories, but things quickly turned bad when Alice brought up Benjamin’s name again.
“I looked at my parents for support, but all I saw was them nodding along with Alice.” Then my mom said in a soft voice, “Alice is right.” Benjamin is a beautiful name, but she picked it out before you did. Why not think about something else? “Our family comes first.” Emma said this.
“The family is now torn about the moment I need them the most,” she said. Do you think this name was a terrible choice?”
