“I drove home in a daze after leaving him there, where he looked broken and defeated.” When I burst through the door, Linda was in the living room. Her face showed right away that she was worried.

After that, the days were a blur of pain and thought. I felt betrayed by both Linda and my dad, and I couldn’t get rid of that feeling.
