A father wants to give his child the best life possible, but Robbie doesn’t have as much money as his daughter’s rich stepfather. Robbie told his ex-wife that he couldn’t pay for their daughter’s college tuition when she asked him to. Things changed dramatically and without warning, and now Robbie wants our help.
This is the letter from Robbie:
“When our daughter was 8, my wife and I broke up because my job pay no longer met her needs.” She got married to her boss. My kid is now 18 years old. My ex said, “As her dad, it’s your duty to pay half of the college tuition.” I stated, “I can do it, but I’ll leave it to your rich hubby!” I do have some money saved up, but I know that paying my wife’s millionaire husband’s college costs won’t even come close to covering them.
It was horrible to find out that my daughter wasn’t at home when I went to see her the next day. She never misses our once-a-week father-daughter dates. She texted me, “If I’m that much of a bother to you, Dad, then maybe it’s best if we don’t see each other for a while.” She didn’t answer the phone when I called.
After some time, the stepdad called me. He agreed to pay, but he made two ridiculous demands: I couldn’t talk to my ex-wife or my daughter when she went to college.
I know that those rules are meant to make me feel bad about myself. What should I do?
Robbie”
