During hard times, especially when feelings are high, family arguments often get worse. Following his wife’s wishes, the man in this story refuses to give his sister his late wife’s clothes. Instead, he gives them to charity. Not being there for him from his sister only makes things worse by fueling the fight.
The man told his story.
My wife worked as a mediator and business lawyer. She was dressed very nicely for work. She died after two years of being told she had ovarian cancer. She had a terrible last six months of her life. There was nothing my sister Sarah did for us at that time.
She was never liked by my wife. I don’t like her. She only cares about herself. I told her not to bother me about my wife’s clothes when she asked about them at the wake. I didn’t pay attention to her as she picked out a few pieces to “remember my wife by.”
His late wife’s clothes kept getting asked for by his sister.
I went to my mom’s birthday party six months ago, but I’m still not in the mood to deal with people. Then Sarah comes over and asks about my wife’s clothes.
I told her that my wife wanted me to give them to this shelter for women because she often helped out. It will help women who need it with their court cases, job interviews, and court dates.
It was too much what his sister told him.
Sarah, my sister, said that my wife was selfish even after she died. She went on and on about how her wife always thought she was better than her and how unfair it was that the clothes were going to charity instead of family.
There’s nothing wrong with it for his family.
I told my sister that I would rather my wife’s clothes were on fire than on her back. When my sister started to cry, my mom came over to see what was wrong. When my sister talked about my wife’s death, my mom told me to be gentle with her.
That was so crazy coming from my mom that I took my gift and left. My mom acts like I ruined her birthday by being over the top, but I can’t believe they’re using clothes to make me feel bad when they have no right to.
