“Always sure she was right, my mother-in-law showed up one day with a secret meal plan.” We ate it even though we didn’t know what was in it. It was our anniversary the next morning, and I woke up with pimples all over my face. I screamed at myself in the mirror when I saw how bad I looked for the event. It turned out that her dishes were full of cheese, even though she knew we couldn’t handle lactose. The meal she made for us both made us sick, and it ruined our special day.
“My sister was always sure she had every illness you can think of because she was always using the internet to help her diagnose herself.” She called me one day in a panic because she thought she was having a heart attack. It turned out that she was having heartburn because she had eaten too many spicy chips. She finally admitted that maybe WebMD wasn’t the best place to get medical advice after a glass of milk and a lot of laughing.
“My brother-in-law asked for a $5,000 loan a year ago and said he would pay it back in six months.” Not a single cent has been paid back, and he keeps giving reasons. It was my fault that I gave him the money in the first place when I finally asked for it back. Even worse, his wife stands up for him and says, “I should have known better.”
“I had already picked out a name for my unborn child and told my whole family about it.” A few months later, my cousin had a baby and gave it the same name. She said it was just a coincidence. Now I feel like my choice is ruined, and she keeps telling me it’s not a big deal, even though I’m very upset.
