As kids, it can be hard to understand how complicated the world is and what our parents are going through. But as we get older, we learn more about their lives and can even understand why they make the choices they do. Today, we’re going to talk about a girl’s sad and shocking discovery about her mom, which shows that every family has secrets.
“When I was on summer break, my mom would make me a sandwich and take me outside for dinner.” No matter what, I could never come back before 2 a.m. Then all of a sudden we left that town.
After many years, our neighbor came over to say I had “the best mother in the world.” I never paid attention to those things as a child and didn’t learn about them later because my mom died when I was 13.
She said her mom had been a card reader and needed the house to be empty and quiet so she could have long sessions with her clients. Since we only had one room, having me there would have been a bother, so I had to stay outside.
This made me love my mom even more. I knew she worked long hours as a waitress to help me as a single mom, but I didn’t know she also worked nights to make my life better. “She’s my hero.”
