When it comes to money, family fights can get worse. The person reading this story is angry that her daughter, who is a single mom, keeps asking for help with baby supplies while she spends money on herself. She tells her daughter to stop spending money on nice things and put her baby first because she is tired of it.
She wrote to us.
“Our family has never had a lot of money, but we’ve always made sure there was enough of everything.” We weren’t rich, but we also weren’t poor either.
My daughter works harder than my husband and I do even though she is a single mom. I keep going to pricey places when she asks me to buy things like diapers and formula. She asked for money again not long ago, saying the baby was hungry. There was a new watch on her wrist that I had never seen before. She told me she bought it yesterday when I asked her about it. Do you like it?
I was shocked. I told her to stop buying unnecessary things and become a better parent. I told her, “You’ll find money for baby formula if you have money for this.” She called me a mean grandmother and went on and on about how expensive everything is these days. She still doesn’t believe I told her to leave, even though I did.
