8 Stories That Show How Rare Kindness Is

People who are kind are like rays of happiness in a world that can sometimes feel too much to handle. Through a simple smile, a few words of encouragement, or an act of kindness, these amazing people show us how good people can be. Their kindness not only restores our faith in other people, but it also makes us want to be kind to those around us, starting a chain reaction of kindness and love.

1. My boyfriend and I fought, and he made me leave our house. I was sad at work. He told me I could stay at his house and that he had a wife. He told her what was going on, but she looked upset. They began to mutter to each other. She then came up to me, looked me in the eye, and said, “I know what you need to do.” “Get in the car.” When we got to my house, I told her about my boyfriend and the three years I spent with him. She got out of the car with me when we got there. My boyfriend answered the door when we knocked. Because he made me leave the house that I own in part, she said she would call the cops. She also told him that the cops would find out that he had stolen from her more than once. He got scared and agreed to leave the house until we could figure something out because she was so firm, strong, and sure of herself. It took me two months to sell the house after I moved back in. I never talked to him again, of course. But I’ll always remember that day because she taught me how to stand up for myself and never let anyone take away my rights.

2. The only money my husband and I had was about $9, so we went to the store and bought milk, bread, and eggs. A woman behind us in line had one thing, so we let her go ahead of us. She bought us a $50 Walmart gift card and paid for our things because we let her go first. Now, if someone can’t pay for something at a grocery store or fast food restaurant, I pay for it or put their things behind mine. I will always remember how she helped us even though she didn’t have to. From meggydoodles789 on Reddit

3. The people next door asked to use my truck. They asked me why I didn’t trust my truck because the tires were worn out. The next day, Mr. Neighbor called to say that he was getting new tires for his Suburban and would be happy to give me his old ones. He told me to go to a certain tire shop and they would put them on. They put on brand-new Goodyear tires when I got to the tire shop. I asked where the old tires that were meant to be sent to me were. The shop owner told me the story about the “old tires” just to get me to come in. Instead of giving me the old tires he said I could have, Mr. Neighbor bought me a whole set of brand-new ones. 4. A few years ago, I had a stroke. I was depressed and did not know what to do. After doctor trips, my insurance company would often leave me on my own. They didn’t pick me up for 9 hours, until my phone died, after one visit to the doctor. I got lucky and found an all-night care just across the street. Having no way to get home, which was 30 miles away, drove me crazy. The staff and doctor paid for my ride home and gave me water and food. Since then, I still send them gifts every year. 5. A homeless man gave me the last few coins I needed to get on the bus in time to turn in my project for a test. He wouldn’t take anything from my bag when I tried to give it to him. “Give them the money back the next time you see a homeless person,” he told them. Sozle on Reddit

6. When I was about eight years old, my family and I went to London and went to a big, fun candy store. It was fun and exciting for me because I had never been to one before. I played some games, but not many because it cost a lot. When the game was over, we went to trade our game tokens in for gifts. I didn’t have enough for anything good, though. A bunch of adults had a lot more tickets than I did, so they gave them all to me so I could get a yo-yo. That was just the big thing going on at school at the time. It was the coolest thing I ever saw as a kid. From phoenixgirl2 on Reddit

7. A stranger took me and my cat into her house when I was homeless. I will always remember it. I felt like I was part of her family when she cooked meals for me. I played with her kid and their dog. Even though my time was short, I will always remember it. I need to pay her back. If I ever find her again, I’ll give her money or show her what I’ve done with my life to show her she didn’t help me for nothing. unknown author/Reddit

8. I walked four miles in heavy black clothes on a very hot day. Someone asked me if I needed a ride when he saw how hot and sweaty I was. I told them no because I thought I was almost home, but I was wrong; I still had one mile to go. From Dev_Lightning on Reddit
