7 True stories of people who were born lucky

There are times when stories just happen by chance. These stories about missing a train and meeting the love of your life or getting money out of the blue show how the universe can surprise us at just the right time. You can see how luck can change everything in an instant by looking at these people.

1. “At the end of my first semester of graduate school, a party for the first-year class was going on at a friend’s house.” In spite of my promise to go, I became very depressed that evening and decided that the best thing to do would be to hide from everyone at home in the dark. After about an hour or two, the host of the party called me to see where I was. I begged him to stop, but he wouldn’t give up. I put on my “deal with the world” face and went because it felt good to be wanted. Long story short, I stayed at the party for hours after it was over and talked with a student I didn’t know very well before. We’ve been together for about nineteen years. “jxj24” on Reddit

2. “About six or seven years ago, my friend and I were stuck in traffic in the middle of the day in his SUV.” Next to us was a car with an old woman and her daughter, who looked to be about 35. The daughter rolled up the window to talk to us. The woman spoke to my friend through his window and said, “I’m feeling dizzy and my mother doesn’t know how to drive. Could one of you boys please get in our car and drive us to a nearby hospital because I think I might pass out?” Because they didn’t seem sketchy, we thought it would be fine for them to be together. We found out that their car had a stick shift, though, and none of us knew how to drive one. We told them we were sorry and then went our separate ways, sad for them. That was three years ago. Three years later, I was watching the news and saw a story about how some people, mostly old people who look harmless, use this trick to get people into their cars, only to be followed by their criminal partners and robbed at some point. I need to clarify that the people in the news were not the old woman and her daughter we met a few years ago. They were an old man and a male teenager. I still think we’ve gotten away with something. 3. The nativity play my daughter put on a few years ago had a raffle. My name was picked out of the hat and I was called up to take the big Christmas hamper that was the grand prize. And as I stood there in front of about 300 people, the person drawing the prizes took out the ticket for the second prize. And called my name once more.
It was both funny and cool. That day, I went home with two huge baskets full of goodies. cutepants / Reddit

4. “My arm hurt, so I couldn’t play soccer. Instead, I went to hang out with some friends and met my wife.” We’ve been together for 15 years and married for 3 years. After I met her, she had an effect on almost every choice I made in my life. And things have kept getting better in my life. I often think about what would have happened in my life if I hadn’t decided to take that day off from soccer. kash_if / Reddit

5. I was late and in a foreign airport. I almost missed the train by a hair. The sliding door hit me in the foot. There was a 10-minute wait for the next one. Getting to know a girl. Now married for six years. Hippocratical and Reddit

6. “One Spanish actor is a huge favorite of my younger sister.” It gets silly at times, like when she would bid on his hair or the napkin he used to wipe his mouth on the internet.
She worked hard at school to get into the Spanish university in the city where he lives so she could be closer to him. She learned Spanish and can now speak it pretty well. She then went to that college and rented an apartment close to his neighborhood. My mom rolls her eyes, but I’m glad for my sister.
She really can’t get enough of this actor, but that’s what drove her to change her life. Her new boyfriend doesn’t mind that she’s still a fan even though she’s lived in Spain for a few years. Feeling proud of her. Overheard/ Ideer

7. My daughter is old enough to repeat everything. She tries to copy everything she hears and sees around her. When she finds a wrapper or piece of paper, she gives it to a family member and says, “Here’s your money. Go to the store.”
