Most of the time, the scariest parts are the ones we can’t explain, and they stay with us, coming back to us in our dreams. These true stories will give you a creepy sense of mystery, whether it’s an unexplained event or a strange feeling that something isn’t right.
1. My dad wasn’t seen since my son was 5 months old. He always said that a man stood by his bed at night when he spoke. We just thought it was a child’s making-up.
After a few years, I put up the last picture I had of my dad. It was there that my son said was the man in his room. It scared us, especially since my dad never came back after going missing.
He had been depressed for a long time and had gone missing before, but he always came back, except that one time. We’re sure he’s dead since it’s been almost 20 years. My son, who is now a young man, doesn’t remember it.
2. This took place when my daughter was 16 years old, in the 1990s. She took a road trip with the new family of her dad. On the fifth day, she sent me a postcard telling me they were going to stay two more days. She said she was sorry for not telling me when she got back. “But you did!” “I got your letter!” “We didn’t send anything,” she said with no color in her face. We didn’t send it because it would have taken more than two days to get to you. I didn’t understand.
I looked in my closet for the postcard but couldn’t find it. I was sure I put it in the pink box where all of my postcards are kept, but I couldn’t find it. It still gives me chills to think about it after all these years. The postcard and her handwriting are definitely something I saw. I can even remember specifics about the card very well.
3. “I was sixteen years old and riding with my mom. We were just chatting while she drove.” We stopped talking after that, and I lost focus for a while. All of a sudden, I saw something that looked like a memory of someone or myself as a child getting on the bus.
I thought my mom had said something because it was so clear. When I asked her if she had said anything about a bus stop, she said, “No, but I was just thinking that this is where I used to get on the bus to go to school when I was a kid.” “REALLY strange.” Canary Without a Clue / Reddit
4. “I just made the turn into my neighborhood to get home at 2:30 AM.” While I drove by, a guy in a white suit and a ridiculously big white cowboy hat had one hand on a sign and the other pointing at me. He looked at me the whole time. Author not known / Reddit
5. “I was coming home from the movies one time when my dad called me over to our computer.” He asked, “When did your school go to Costa Rica?” They just put up a picture of a group that includes you. I hadn’t been on the trip with my community college, so I didn’t know what he was talking about. However, the person he was talking about really did look a lot like me. I even wore a white Polo shirt that day. It was the strangest thing that’s ever happened to me. The Reddit user Capt_GingerBeard93
7. “This went on for a year when I was nine years old.” The phone would always ring at home, and I knew for sure that one of my friends was calling, even if I didn’t know she was going to call that day.
Someone called my old home phone, and it didn’t show me whose number it was. Because of this, whenever the phone rang and I knew it was her, I would always tell my family for sure that it was her. I never got it wrong or guessed it wrong. What the heck? / Reddit
8. “I changed the temperature on my water heater when I was home by myself.” I got down in front of the water heater and took off the gray plate that was over the thermostat. This plate is made of metal and is about the size of two copies of paper.
I put the plate down next to me and changed the temperature. The metal plate was gone when I went to put it back on. That metal plate was the last thing I saw. It could have gone anywhere, but it did. Reddit and GameVoid
