Months after her wedding, 46-year-old supermodel Georgina Cooper “tragically” passed away on a Greek island: Specifics

46-year-old British supermodel, Georgina Cooper, was on vacation with her new husband, Nigel, on the Greek island of Kos when she became ill. She was initially admitted to the local hospital, but her condition worsened rapidly.

Due to the severity of her illness, she was airlifted to a more advanced facility in Crete, where she spent five days in intensive care before passing away. Her body was recently flown back to England, where loved ones continue to mourn her loss.

Cooper first gained attention in the 1990s. She was discovered at 13, and by 15, she was already in the spotlight, appearing in a Bon Jovi music video. Her gap-toothed smile made her stand out, and she became a favorite of top photographers, including Corinne Day.

Throughout her career, she modeled for big names like Burberry, Alexander McQueen, and Stella McCartney. She also graced the covers of “Vogue” and “The Face,” becoming an icon of that era.

However, Cooper has faced health problems in recent years. Her former agent, Dean Goodman, shared that she had struggled during the COVID-19 pandemic and was often in and out of hospitals. Despite everything, she stayed optimistic and looked forward to the future.

“She loved Greece and was so happy to return there with her new husband,” Goodman said. “It’s heartbreaking that she passed away just a fortnight ago. She had just married and was looking forward to her life.”

Goodman also posted a heartfelt message online, “I’m in total shock, and talked to her not long ago to meet up after she just got married. I will miss her immensely. I will never forget you and always love you, see you on the other side ❤️ 😘 😥 she was my girl!!! 💔

The fashion world is still mourning the loss of Tatjana Patitz, another iconic supermodel who died nearly two years ago at age 56, after a battle with cancer. Patitz, like Cooper, was celebrated for her lasting impact on the industry and was remembered fondly by her peers.

Many in the fashion world expressed their sorrow upon learning about Cooper’s passing. Models Erin O’Connor, Helena Christensen, Jade Parfitt, and Jodie Kidd shared their grief online.

A devastated Parfitt posted, “Goodbye beautiful girl 🤍. One of the funniest and naughtiest friends. Sending love to her son, family, and friends. Gone too soon 🤍.”

O’Connor added, “Gorgeous George… Shocked and heartbroken. You were always kind and funny, Georgina. We admired and loved you so much.”

Cooper had a deep connection to Greece, especially the island of Kos. She visited often and was close to the owners of the Marianna Hotel, where she stayed.

“She came here in July for her honeymoon and again in October for a holiday,” said a local source. “She was talking about coming back in May because she wanted to find somewhere to live and maybe start a business.”

The Marianna Hotel shared their own tribute, “Goodbye to our beautiful friend, Georgina Cooper. We will always have you in our hearts with your bright smile, your caring and kind soul. You loved Kos, and Kos loved you. Rest in peace.”

Outside of modeling, Cooper was a devoted mother. She often spoke about how she put her son, Sonny, first, even if it meant stepping back from her career.

“After I had my son I just couldn’t bear to leave him alone and I wanted to be there for him,” she once said. “I tried to continue modeling but it broke my heart when I had to leave him for work. My life was at a crossroads and I decided that Sonny came first.”

Her family is deeply grieving. Her sister-in-law, Tracey Wallace, called Cooper’s death a “tragedy.” “My partner Shane was Georgina’s brother. It’s very sad,” Wallace shared.

The exact cause of Cooper’s death is still unknown, leaving many with questions. Georgina Cooper’s life was full of achievements, lasting friendships, and a deep love for her family.
