Melania Trump’s most recent public appearance beside her husband Donald Trump has provoked new rumors and controversy, with some online users once again doubting her sincerity.
On November 5, the 54-year-old former first lady went to West Palm Beach, Florida, to vote with the Republican presidential candidate. Although the pair’s visit to the Mandel Recreation Centre seemed ordinary, many were drawn to Melania’s choice to wear her sunglasses indoors, which swiftly sparked the famed “imposter Melania” conspiracy theories.
In the viral video, which has now garnered millions of views, Melania is seen standing quietly next to Donald Trump, wearing a black dress and dark sunglasses as they greeted supporters. The clip was widely shared on social media, with one post on X (formerly Twitter) racking up over 34 million views. “Melania has kept her sunglasses on indoors all day,” the caption stated, igniting a wave of speculation.
Melania’s attire deviated from the typical patriotic hues by wearing a straightforward black dress and shades, while Donald Trump wore his trademark red MAGA cap. The long-running accusations that the First Lady used a body double during public appearances, which initially gained steam during Donald Trump’s presidency, appeared to be fueled by this.
The conjecture was quick and relentless. One social media user noted, “That’s a body double, not Melania,” pointing out that the woman in the video didn’t have the same smile that Melania usually does. “That’s fake Melania,” said another, echoing the criticism. The comment “that’s not Melania” appeared beneath the video, and dozens of other people chimed in.
As the conspiracy theories spread, some users took to posting their own theories and even what they claimed was photographic proof of the supposed body double. “The Melania double looks awfully nervous,” one commenter observed, while another added, “I swear I’m not into the whole body double conspiracy thing, but like… that obviously isn’t Melania.”
The theories, though, could have been too soon. Some have questioned the veracity of the reports after seeing Melania finally take off her sunglasses in other recordings taken that same day while speaking with supporters.
Former model Melania Trump, who was born in Slovenia, wed Donald Trump in 2005. The two of them have a son named Barron Trump. Although earlier conspiracy theories have been resurrected by this most recent occurrence, it is unknown if the rumors will have a long-term effect on her reputation. For the time being, it appears that the sunglasses’ enigma will keep igniting online discussion.
