Carmen Bryan, aged 52, has once again brought Jay-Z under public scrutiny following allegations of his sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in 2000. In a recent Instagram post, Carmen expressed her views, stating, “Nowadays, individuals do not stand up for what is right; they support those they favor! This is why we refer to you as ‘groupie.’”
Carmen, who referred to herself as the “hip hop Helen of Troy” in her memoir, drew attention to previous controversies by sharing lyrics from Kanye West’s song “Monster,” in which Jay-Z rapped: “I Rape and pillage your village, women and children.” Jay-Z has denied these allegations, asserting that they are part of a “blackmail attempt.”
Her relationship with Jay-Z, which lasted from 1995 to 2004, was marked by scandal. During their affair, Carmen became pregnant but suffered a miscarriage. She ultimately ended the relationship after Jay-Z’s song “Supa Ugly” revealed intimate details about their time together, including a mention of used condoms found in her daughter’s car seat. Reflecting on this, Carmen remarked: “Wrong move! That was the moment I lost all respect for SC.”
Carmen’s involvement with Jay-Z created tension with her then-fiancé, Nas, who is also the father of her daughter, Destiny. Following the release of “Is That Your Chick,” Nas confronted her, leading Carmen to confess to the five-year affair.
In her memoir, “It’s No Secret,” Carmen detailed the painful aftermath, including a late-night admission to Nas: “The rumors are true. I have been seeing Jay-Z.”
