Embracing Rescue Dog Happy to Be Adopted After A Prolonged Stay at the Shelter
When Shira Scott Astrof of The Dodo successfully completed her adoption quest of another puppy, she stated, “A shelter is not a place for dogs.”
Despite having scores of identical accomplished projects on her resume, this seasoned CEO of Animal Rescue Mission claimed that this one was really meaningful and touching.
Specifically, one of Los Angeles’ several animal shelters is where her narrative starts. In her daily corner, a timid rescue dog by the name of Chole waits for her savior.
Nevertheless, the dejected dog refuses to even meet her gaze. Shira understood she had a challenging assignment on her hands.

“She would have shut down completely if she had stayed in that dark corner of the shelter any longer,” Shira said in a dramatic way.
She was able to see by the look in her eyes that she had to take rapid action to save the unfortunate puppy. Shira was certain that Darvish was the one who would restore sunlight to Chole since he was a cheerful and intelligent young guy.
So, the following day, she and Darvish arrived to save Chole from her lonely nook together with her A.R.M. colleagues.
“She wasn’t willing to walk because she was so afraid,” Shira remembers telling Darvish as she and she escorted her outside. In addition, she said that Chole was prepared to return to the shelter, as if she had no idea that there was more to the world than that one area.
Thankfully, after a few tries with the assistance of her teammates and Darvish, she was able to get her into the car and given a trip to her new residence.

Chole and Shira experienced an intense emotional roller coaster throughout the roughly hour-long trip through the streets of Los Angeles.
This appeared to be too much for her after a long while in that wretched dark nook. According to Darvish, Shira had to sit next to Chole in order to soothe her because she was so agitated in the rear seat of the car.
And it seems that the real magic struck at that moment because Chole began to show her human buddy her genuine affection at last. It was amazing for the first time, albeit I’m still a little shy.
Shira said that although it takes some time for dogs like her to win back people’s trust, it is always worthwhile. “She had those moments where you could tell that they know they are safe, but they just need to fully get there.”
Chole was scared to get out of the car once more when they arrived at the residence. She simply couldn’t handle all the emotions and changes that occurred in such a short amount of time. She was content with her savior except from that.
Although it wasn’t simple, moving outside of your comfort zone is always necessary to open a new chapter in life. And before she realized it, Chole had boldly walked out of the automobile and entered the house where her new life would soon start.

It was clear that Chole was still in anguish from all of the trauma she had experienced in the shelter’s corners.
As a result, she picked a nook in her new house to get ready for her future life once more.
Furthermore, she knew Darvish was the ideal match for Chole, as Shira had stated. He just had a lot of compassion and saw that it would take time to get there, but that they would succeed together. He so just allowed her to spend the first day in her corner.
According to Darvish, “about the third day, I just sat down next to her, and she slowly started eating from my hand meaning that she is slowly getting closer to me.”
The actual turning point occurred on the fifth day, and just as he had anticipated, Chole no longer desired to be apart from her new best buddy.
She was a man’s closest friend; she followed him everywhere, knew when he was coming home, and showed him so much love and gratitude with her gaze.
With a small tear in her eye, but one that was glad and proud because she had succeeded in making something unique, Shira said, “They definitely are soulmates and they definitely can not live without each other.”
