My husband betrayed me when I was at my worst, but I’ll forgive him if he does one cruel condition.

Stephanie just recently wrote us a letter in which she told us her dramatic family story. The woman had been through a lot of painful things in her life, but she didn’t cry all the time. Instead, she seemed very strong and cold, which even she was surprised by. In the next few days, Stephanie’s husband may feel bad about betraying her because the woman has decided to forgive him, but only if he does one thing that could ruin his whole life.

It had been a happy and joyful life for Stephanie until one day.

Stephanie is 36 years old and stays at home with her kids. The woman was having a great time being a mom and being happy with her husband when all of a sudden bad things happened.

The woman told us her story, and it made everyone in our editorial team feel bad for her and admire her strength. Stephanie asked our readers what they thought about her situation and whether she thought she had done everything right. Here is her hard-to-understand story.

“My husband and I have been happily married for 9 years now, and we have 4 children,” Stephanie began her letter. We’ve been through a lot of things together. Some times of our lives were very rough, like when our first child was born and we were both very young and had no experience being parents. But through time, problems, and difficulties, our marriage stood strong. Now we are a happy family with kids, a big house, and a good income. Up until one day, everything was so good.

The woman was hit hard by bad news.

Stephanie wrote, “Our youngest child was told he or she has cancer a few months ago.” It’s not too late to get better, and many things can still be done to save her life. However, I was in so much pain and so broken when I heard the news that I could hardly even hear what the doctors had to say about the good news. All I could think about was my kid because of the news. I felt like a zombieā€”a walking dead person who wakes up and immediately starts doing chores.

“This was the worst time for my stress and pain as a mother, and my life depended on every word the doctors said.” On the other hand, my husband was positive from the start. Even though he was there for me, he didn’t comfort me. This shocked me. Even worse, he seemed to have moved into his own world, and I quickly learned what kind of world it was. This is the world of cheating and betrayal.

“He did cheat on me, that’s true. I read the texts on his phone and then talked to him right away. He told me he was having an affair and went into great detail about his side relationship, which had been going on for a month. I was so sad that I asked him why.
Why he lied to me and had an affair while our lives were at their worst and why he didn’t care about what was going on with our child or with me. He shocked me with something he thought was an excuse.

Stephanie’s cheating husband or wife didn’t feel bad about it.

Stephanie wrote, “He said he’s been too stressed out lately.” He also thought of the famous saying that says when parents are in trouble, they should first look out for themselves and then worry about their child. He told her that he was angry and sad, so he had this affair to take his mind off of things that were going wrong in his family. Once he felt better, he planned to deal with the problems in his family.

“I couldn’t say enough about how shocked I was by his answer. His behavior as a whole was as mean as it could be. At the same time, though, his meanness and cruelty gave me more strength to fight. I became aware of my increased strength all of a sudden, and I chose to take charge of my life from now on.

Stephanie chose to forgive her husband, but there was one thing she wanted.

“So, I didn’t really make scenes and scandals,” Stephanie said. I didn’t scream, cry, or scold him. I didn’t even say anything bad about him. I walked up to him calmly and told him I forgive him for what he did to me. It’s not going to happen. We’re going to live together and fight for our child. The only thing I need him to do is this before I forgive him.

For the rest of his life, he said he would do anything I asked. Now that he agreed, I told him that if he wanted my forgiveness and to stay in the family, he had to call all of his family members and friends and tell them about his affair. He has a very large family. He needs to thoroughly explain to them how and why he betrayed me, as well as the reason he gave me for acting so coldly during the worst times in our family’s history.

“That’s all I told him was the catch.” He then blew up. He said it was mean. He said he didn’t deserve it. I told him to leave right then and think about what to do next. It was agreed that I would wait until he made up his mind. Was that the wrong thing for me to do? What are you going to do?”
