My husband told me an even worse lie after I accused him of cheating.

A married woman recently had a tough time after noticing that her husband was acting strangely. She decided to look into it and found something she didn’t expect. She looked to the internet for help and advice because she was feeling overwhelmed and confused.

“Hey,

Gary (32M), my husband, and I have been married for two years. We have a beautiful daughter named Amy who is one year old. Gary, his best friend Bob, Bob’s wife, and I all went to dinner together yesterday. At some point, Gary told everyone he had to go to the bathroom. He took longer than usual, which made me worry, so I went to check on him. When I got close, I saw a tall blonde woman hand him a note, which he quickly hid in his jacket. As soon as he came back to the table, I quietly got the paper and read it under the table. “Thank you for yesterday:)” was written on it.

I lost it at that moment and read the note out loud to him in front of everyone at the dinner table as a way to confront him. “Calm down, it was just a joke Bob played on me,” Gary replied right away. Bob spoke up to help his friend. Even though they tried to play a joke on me, it was clear that it wasn’t a joke. I pretended to believe their explanation because I didn’t want to make things worse.

At home, while he slept, I looked through his laptop for signs that he was cheating on me. To my surprise, he had saved all of his passwords in a handy place. Interested, I looked into it more. Not a thing! What I found was a lot scarier than an affair. In his files were pictures of a little boy and different papers that were related to him. When I found out about this, I was shocked because Gary had never told me about this child before. I was so confused and even scared that I couldn’t sleep all night.

This morning, I chose to tell Gary what I had learned. He was quiet and looked down with shame. He said, “There’s something you should know about me after a moment.” I really love you, and I hope you can forgive me.

He then went on to say, “In the first month after we got married, I found out that the woman I dated during our two-month break was pregnant with my child.” I had no idea how to tell you the news. For your sake and because I didn’t want to lose you, I thought I’d keep it from you. I swear that I haven’t talked to his mother in a long time; I’m just paying for my son’s things from afar. I’m not going to lie to you anymore, so that blonde woman from yesterday is the nanny I hired for my kid. I agreed to give her a raise when she asked for one. She chose to thank me with that note because she was at the restaurant yesterday with her husband.

Finding out about this revelation broke my heart. My husband, who I thought of as my closest friend, kept such a big secret from me. He probably told his friend Bob about it instead. I am not sure if I can trust him fully again. I don’t know what to do now that he’s gone to work. To give myself some time to think, should I take my daughter and stay with my parents? If he truly apologizes, should I accept it and try to move on as if nothing happened?

Sincerely,
Margaret”
