Each of us will eventually be in a situation where the impossible becomes possible. Sometimes, not getting enough sleep can change this, but other times, the universe sets the stage for things that seem like they belong in a movie.
“Many years ago, I took the same bus home every night and always sat in the back. A man who was friendly but not close sat next to me one day. We talked for a short time about nothing in particular.
He looked at me as I got close to my stop and said, “We’ll meet again, but things will be different next time.” I didn’t say anything because I thought it was weird.
The next day, he wasn’t on the bus, and I never saw him again.
After a few weeks, I found him in old pictures of my grandmother and me. He was standing next to my grandmother in an old picture. He looked like the man from the bus, but he was younger.
I asked her who he was because I was shocked. “That’s your grandfather,” she said with a sad smile as she looked at the picture. He passed away when you were very young. What a shock! The man I had talked to on the bus turned out to be my grandfather, someone who had died long before I could remember him.
I still ride that bus now and then and wonder, just like he said, if I’ll ever see him again.
